Step 1
Check alerts & leave early
Confirm NPWS park alerts and BeachSafe the morning you leave. On weekends aim for the car park before mid-morning — it regularly fills. Screenshot the alert page if reception will be patchy.

Pay park entry
Vehicle entry is typically charged per day — ParknPay or stations at Loftus / Waterfall / Otford. Confirm the current fee on NPWS. Keep payment confirmation on your phone.

Wattamolla lagoon & beach
Use the lagoon when calm; treat the ocean side as rip-prone and unforgiving. No jumping from the waterfall. Picnic tables and toilets are on site — pack water and sun protection.

Optional short walk — or leave
If energy remains, a short lookout is enough. Skip stacking long Coast Track miles or Figure 8 into this half-day. Exit with buffer before gates lock.

Pack notes
- 2+ litres water per adult, snacks, hat, SPF
- Closed-toe shoes with grip for wet rock
- Towel / swimwear only if lagoon conditions look safe
- Rubbish bag — leave no trace
If things go wrong
- Car park full → Audley or Garie backup (accept different vibe / surf risk at Garie)
- Storm builds → leave early; cliffs and heath get ugly in wind
- Ocean looks rough → stay out; lagoon only if still calm
